 1889=Extract from the Burnley Express.
 On Sunday morning, a boy, aged six, and two men were standing at the door of a shippon on the farm of Mr Nicholas Heap, at Higher Saxifield, Briercliffe. Whilst watching the progress of the storm, the lightning was seen to come in contact with the ground near by, and immediately afterwards struck the two men and the boy on the legs, paralysing them. 1891=Higher Saxifield plus death of daughter Mary Alice 24/11/1891 aged 8 years.
