Note: Father John Wilkinson, Mother Betty 1784=Water-Side at Baptism. Register of Baptisms 1774-1789, Page 84, Entry 8 Chelsea Pensioner, enlisted at Chatham in October 1807 I believe with the 11th Foot aged 21, later served in the 77th Regiment of Foot in the Peninsular Wars under General Scarlett. 5 feet 7inches tall, Fair hair, blue eyes and described as round ! Holder of the Military General Service Medal and clasps for Ciudad Rodrigo, El Bedon and Badajos. I have a copy of his discharge papers. Another relative (Angela Allan) has his left handed powder horn used at Badajos and I have 3 photographs of the same. Death Reference Number : Dx 490360 Dec 1864 Vol 8e Page 132 1807=Chatham and Rochester - Lincoln with the 77th Foot 1808=Sleaford - Winchester. 1809=Sailed on Walcheren Expedition aboard HMS Illustrious 1810=Bexhill - Jersey 1811=Portugal aboard Cornwallis Transport 1812=Badajos 1813=8th October in Lisbon 1814=77th Regiment of Foot stationed at Cork and Cove in Ireland 1815=Henry transferred from No 2 Company to No 6 Company 1816=77th Regiment stationed at Cashel 1818=Marriage. Limerick - Galway - Stockport, Blackburn and Rochdale. He must have met his wife Hannah in Limerick where they married 1820=25/04/1820 promoted to Corporal from 1/1d per day to 1/5d 1823= Son John Wilkinson baptised at St Anne's Church of Ireland, Shankill, Belfast on 15th July, 1823 but no further trace of him. 1828=West Indies 1841=Waterside with family plus Josephine and Judy Donald both born in Ireland 1851=45,Brown Street 1857=Brown Street at marriage of daughter Hannah whose father is described as a Sergeant in the 88th Regiment. 1861=4,Shorey Gate, Burnley ( A Widower) Henry was 5ft-9 inches, Light Hair, Blue eyes and a fair complexion according to his discharge papers WO97/884 1864=Death aged 80 years April Qtr Vol 8e Page 122. (Pension 2s/10 pence halfpenny a day drawn in Halifax). Buried on 12th April, 1864 at St Bartholomew's, Colne.
