The James Spradling, Jr. listed in the 1800 Wilkes Co., Census, Morgan, p. 484, could not have been this James, because he is much too young. He was probably Charles and Frances Spradling's son. He, age 16 - 25, was probably listed with his mother Frances, age 26 - 44. Her husband, Charles, died in 1796.
He was not listed in father, James "Jack"s Will in 1808 probably because he moved to Claiborne Co., TN in 1805. He was granted the land he lived on when he died in Trust, so it may have come from a deed from his father. He lived near his parents in both Halifax Co., VA, and Wilkes Co., NC and was listed as James Jr in all those records.
According to their pension application their only child was Mary, born 1784.
James Jr. Spradling, b. Abt. 1745, VA was a Revolutionary War Soldier and was discharged at Camden, SC in 1779. He served in Capt. Tallifero's (Tolliver's) Company (9th Annual Report Virginia State Library, 1811-1912.
