Note: Not proven to be the son of Jonathan "John" and Mary (Womack) Spradling, but was allegedly born in Halifax Co., VA when they lived there.
A descendant of this Charles' son, James, matched five descendants of Charles S. and Agnes Spradling one genetic distance from an exact DNA match and several of their other descendants two genetic distances from an exact DNA match. The only son of Charles and Agnes, whose children were not listed in the old Spradling Bible, was Jonathan "John", so Charles may have been his son. Son, Oliver, b. Abt. 1750 was the only child named in Mary (Womack) Spradling's uncle William Womack's old disputed will but it stated that they had other children. He may be the son of Charles II Spradling, b. 1728-1735, Hanover Co., VA, d. 1783, Craven, SC. Charles reportedly had another son other than those listed in the old Spradling Bible. Charles probably lived in Halifax Co., VA at the time of this Charles' birth. His first wife is unknown. His daughter, Agnes, was born 1758.
Probably listed in the 1785 Halifax Co., VA Continental Census, Heads of Families, 5 white souls. Jesse Spradling, son of Joseph Edgar Spradling, was listed on the same page. There was a John Moore one family away on the same page. Charles S. Spradling's son Charles had moved to South Carolina and died there in 1783. James "Jack" Spradling's son, Charles, had moved to North Carolina before 1785 because his son James was born 1779 in Wilkes Co.,NC, so he could not have been either of these Charles Spradlings.
