Note: excerpts from the workes of Billy Earp Robertson In the early 1900's Elphege's brother, Ellis, brought a French-speaking Canadian Presbyterian minister, Rev. M. R. Paridis, to his home. After meeting and hearing the gospel from Rev. Paridis and Rev. John Nelson Blackburn, a young pioneer home missionary in Houma, he decided that others in his family should hear the teachings of these two men. The ministers were asked to return. They did return several times. Soon there were other meetings in other homes nearby. These 'cottage services' grew...... This little group of people formed the only all French Presbyterian church in the New Orleans Presbytery. There were others started, but they did not suceed. The present First Presbyterian Church of Bayou Blue now stands on land that once was the property of Elphege (Ellis's brother). *********************
