Alphonse Adolph Blanchard Jr. , 91, a native and resident of Bourg, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Ann Community Center in Bourg. A military service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by seven daughters, five sons, 41 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayola Boquet Blanchard; one daughter, Alice Blanchard; one son, Philip Blachard; his parents, Alphonse J. Blanchard and Isoline Matherne Blanchard; three brothers, Emile, Henry, and Adolph Blanchard; and three sisters, Lucille Robichaux, Edna Bascle and May Schouest.
He was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg and a World War II Army veteran. He was an employee of Texaco. He was active in Terrebonne Parish Recreation, served as Constable of Bourg, and worked for St. Anne Community. In his younger years he loved to fish, trawl, farm and play sports in the yard with his children, grandchildren and other family members.
His family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to The Suites and Haydel Memorial Hospice for the excellent care he received during his stay. In addition, our deepest gratitude Dr. Brian Matherne, whom Dad loved, respected and trusted with his life. Thank You. You are the Best!
