Photo courtesy of Cathy Daigle Gautreaux, wife of Roy Gautreaux who is s/o of Love and Gertie. ___________________________________________ Gertie Portier Gautreaux, 90, a native of Chauvin and resident of Houma, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2011. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by four sons and one daughter, Ivan and wife, Rebecca "Becky", three grandsons, Darrin and wife, Lynn, Danny and wife, Casey, and Dirk and companion, Tina; Roy and wife, Katherine "Kathy", three grandchildren, Heidi and husband, Ryan Dupre, Susan and husband, Archie Adams, and Christopher and wife, Amanda; Norma and husband, Daniel "Dog" Daigle, two grandchildren, Kent and wife, Carolyn, and Donna Daigle; Michael and wife, Lana, three grandsons, Michael "John" Jr. and wife, Madge, Jason, and Jeff and wife, Shantel; Darell and two grandchildren, Tara and husband, Michael "Mike" and Cody Gautreaux; grandsons, David Viguerie and wife, Gwen, and Stephen Viguerie and wife, Madonna; son-in-law, Jim Webb; one brother Arthur "Bee" Portier Jr.; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Love A. Gautreaux; daughter and son-in-law, Russell Jr. and Phyllis Viguerie; grandson, Russell "Rusty" Viguerie III; daughter-in-law, Darla Levron Gautraux; her parents, Arthur Sr. and Hattie Babin Portier; brothers, Louis Portier, Onezipe Portier and Leo Portier; and sisters, Elsie Fisher and Shirley Henry. She was a dedicated Christian, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She and her husband worked in the jambalaya stand for all the years Lagniappe on the Bayou existed. She enjoyed going to mass, her weekly rosary group, quilting and cooking for family and friends. She was a member of the St. Joseph Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. She was a bookkeeper for their family business for 28 years.
