E. C. Wurzlow, Sr., former clerk of court and city councilman, writes
"The first building in Houma, La. is said to have been on the corner of Court and Washington. Two or three were constructed at nearly the same time. Edmond Guidry, who died about two years ago( that would have been in 1895) worked on these first Houma buildings." The Rockwood-Grinage store and post office must have been one of these.
