Notes
a. Note:   I Dug Up Houma Terrebonne v. 5, p. 45
Dr. Isaac Savoie, who researched Rhodes, found Jacques (John/Jean) family to be the first Rhodes to live in lower Terrebonne Parish, La.
The land, or at least part of it, was given to Jacques wife, Henriette Hebert, by Jean Besse. She donated acres of her land to her sons but reserved the orange groves. Henriette had a contract for 1000. down and another 1000. when the oranges were harvested.
What we know now as Bush canal in lower Terrebonne Parish, La., located below Madison Canal, was on the Rhodes property. Property that they had given the right of way to have the canal dug. The canal was built in 1912 to transport sugar cane from Little Calliou, La. to Terrebone Sugar Refinery.
**************************************** Works of Sherwin Guidry (article found on internet)
Mr Guidry states that little is known about Jackson and Henriette but that they are burried on an Indian Mound at Bush Canal and they did leave a large family behind.
