Note: Houma, Terrebonne Parish, LA newspaper obit August 13, 2001 Curtis Paul Babin, Sr., 78, a native of Grand Caillou and resident of Houma died at 9:53 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2001. Visitation will be today from 4 to 10 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Glaise John Babin of Houma; and Curtis Paul Babin Jr. and his wife Judy; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Rena) Shoffner of Houma; and Susan Marie Smith of Houston, Texas; one brother, Lloyd Babin of Houma; five sisters, Pearl Babin Lambert, Rhea Babin Chaisson, June Babin Bergeron, all of Houma and Nell Babin Voisin and Joan Babin Pellegrin, both of Grand Caillou; nine grandchildren, Monte Babin, Todd Babin, Kasie Babin, Tonya Babin, Lacy Shoffner, Alex Shoffner, all of Houma, Kelly Favre of Tyler, Tx., Tracey Guidry of New Orleans and Michael Guidry of Robins Air Force Base in Georgia; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Babin and Tait Babin, both of Houma and Christopher Favre of Tyler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ertha Marie Eschete Babin; his parents, Glaise John and Rose Thibodeaux Babin; one brother, Francis Babin; and one sister, Rosemary Babin Gautreaux. He was a retired surveyor for Exxon. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5545 and was a United States Air Force Veteran during World War II. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Chauvin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
