Note: Houma, LA; Courier Published: Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 8:31 a.m. Last Modified: Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 8:31 a.m. Helen Freeman Smith, 95, a native of Bayou Dularge and a resident of Houma, died Tuesday, April 5, 2011. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Terrebonne Memorial Park. She is survived by four sons, James S., Robert J., John O. and Terry J. Smith; two daughters, Betty S. Newton and Judy S. Lawson; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oscar Smith; her parents, Ernest and Felice Guidry Freeman; one son, Jerry L. Smith; four brothers, Armand, Ernest, and Paul Freeman and Peter Chauvin; and six sisters, Miriam Norris, Mae Theriot, Theresa Malbry, Inez Ledet, Grace Naquin and Leonise Olivier. Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
