Notes
a. Note:   DNA proven through a descendant of another child than the submitter Descendants of Roxena DID NOT carry the DNA for SCHMELZER.
HOWEVER, her mother married James Arthur TITUS and a family member descended from them DOES carry the SCHMELZER DNA in Chromosome 2, with the other descendants of Jacob SCHMELZER.
A few descendants of Roxena have tested, all matching the TITUS descendant through Margaret Isabel (MARLIN) FLINT-TITUS
Proven by DNA to the following ancestral couples:
 FLINT/STATTON
 BLOUNT/CASS
 MARLIN/REESE
  Roxena divorced Shellenberger 1915
Death certificate gives birth as Feb. 10,1878. I found the child born to Eli D and Margaret Isabelle (MARLIN) FLINT on the 1880 Kansas census in Athens Township,Jewell Co as being 3 years old, making her birth year 1877.

Inmate at - The Sisters of the Good Shepard of the Magdalene House From Nikki "Flora" Hampton
St. Rose Industrial School, now at 597 N. Dekum Avenue, was established in Portland in 1902 by the "Sisters of the Good Shepherd", from St. Paul, Minnesta. Now a somewhat similar institution had been conducted here for some years by the Sisters of Our Lady of Refuge, who became affiliated with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, w
hen the Sisters first arrived from St. Paul, their home was estalishe at Park Place, where St. Agnes Baby Home is now located. On account of the distance from the city. Archbishop Christie secured for the Sisters a location at "East Twentieth and Irving," which had previously been occupied by the Sisters of Refuge. The site comprises TEN acres largely under cultivaton. The object of the school was to care for, and educate problem girls from the
age of twelve years and up. Many of the girls, though free to leave, remained to complete their training, so as to be selfsupporting when they return to their communities. Visitors of all and of no religious persuasion were astonished at the culture, refinement, as well as the home-like environment which the school provided..The school has long since closed down and the property is up for sale, when I saw it last, back in 2001. Yes, I have been there and viewed the whole area...very large indeed and I'm certain it was very lovely in it's day..Still is in good shape..
