Note: had illegitimate daughter; never married. (source: Frank Lombard). From an email sent on 10-30-05: Hello, I found you on Roots Web. Just thought you might like a little info. on James B. Ehrsam! James "Jim" Ehrsam, was briefly married to my Mother, in 1937. James B. Ehrsam, wed Maxine Joyce Hastings, August 03, 1937, in Council Grove, KS. the marriage was annulled, I was told, but it was listed as a divorce; October 15, 1937. There was quite a lot of Scandel involving their brief marriage. I have newspaper clipping. I recall Jim visiting my Grandparents, when I was a little girl. And him saying I sould have been his little girl! I still have a Silver Dollar he gave me. I believe he died in a single car accident one night in Dec 1946, near Enterprise, KS. Just thought you might find this interesting? Cynthia J. Carney Ginger <cjginger@peoplepc.com> From a second email sent on 10-30-05: Hi, A little more info. My Mom was a spoiled only child, a pretty girl, who was very popular in highschool. She usually dated Guys older than she. She was born 31 Aug 1919 in Enterprise, KS. so she was 8 years younger than Jim Ehrsam. Have no idea how they happened to elope. Jim was a heavy drinker! Maybe she was drunk, too? She got mad at him and went to her Grandma's in Enterprise, about 4 days after they wed. Then about 20 Sep 37, the two of them took off again together. Guess they went a number of places, ended up in Oklahoma City. They were going to return to Enterprise together about 4 days later, by bus. He arrived, but she didn't! He could not remember where she went. He was arrested for passeing a bad check ( they thought he may have killed her). He was released from jail about Sep 29 after making good, the bad check. I remember my Grandparents saying He weep and said her did not hurt her, he loved her! But didn't know where she went. Joyce "Jonnie" finially called her Aunt Georgia Hastings Grimes, that she was visiting a friend in Hutchinson, KS. Her Dad, Charles B. Hastings went and got her 28 Sep. Her Mom had been all over KS and OK looking for her! As you can see she was an irresponsible selfish 18 year old! She wasn't much better, as she got older! And Jim was a bit of a drunk! A have newspaper clipping my Grandmother saved, plus I heard all sorts of stories, over the years. Do you know who Jim had a child with? I don't know if I heard about that? If so don't recall. M. Joyce "Jonnie" married my Father Alden L. Carney 17 April 1938, in Manhattan, KS. that was a poor marriage, too, but they had 2 children, my Brother Alden L. Carney. b: 20 Feb 1939, and myself, Cynthia Joyce Carney b: 16 Sep 1940. They split up when I was just a baby. I lived with Mother's parents in Enterprise quite a lot, off and on, until I was 10 years old. I moved to So CA in 1954, with Mom and my step-father, Wm. R. Baker. My brother A. L. went back to Enterprise, KS after graduating highschool, in 1957. Where he married in 58 and lived in KS until about 68. They moved to So. CA, lived in Santa Ana, CA until Dec 03. Moved to AZ. They have 4 daughters. I married right out of highschool in 58. We have lived in So. CA ever since. No children. Jim used to come over and play dominos or cards, and drink! with Gramp Hastings. I thought he was very handsom and a Good Guy because he was always so nice to me. I believe he was drunk when he wrecked his car killing hisself. Mom divorced and remarried again about 1960. they are both dead now. She passed away at my home Mar 11 1997. Well, that is No doubt, far more than you wanted to know! Cynthia "Cindy" Ginger
