Notes
a. Note:   Jane Magnant was a well known practical nurse and midwife. She delivered the Rohm twins and most of the sixteen children of William and Mary Kemper, Mansfield. She aslo drove a horse driven school hack. Her daughter Estelle remembers that when Jane was helping to nurse a child with diptheria, Jane would bathe and change her clothing in the smokehouse before entering her home. In 1900 she was exposed to smallpox after having visited William Kemper who had previously been exposed to the disease on a trip to Paducah, Kentucky. Jane and two neighbors, Lou WElls and Ella Rigdon, were quarantined in the school house for three weeks.
Jane was of sturdy stock and survived a broken hip in her 64th year which caused her to walk with a cane for the rest of her life. She died in full possession of her mental faculties at age 98.
