Note: Per Rose Sherry interview when Nate was 6yrs, Max was 14yrs, Ben was 12yrs old when their dad David had bad accident and became crippled. They had to make living for the family by selling newspapers. This was when everyone was getting sick with the flu. Nate did not get it!
They wore garlic and camphor sacks around their necks during the flu. Uncle Ben came to visit and Nate came home with lots of tips. Mother asked what he ate since out all day and he said "ham sandwich and milk". Uncle very angry and was yelling and stomped out of the house.

When Nate got married he lived on the North Side
