Note: 1924 - At 5 years of age, Nellie contracted Scarlet fever and/or Diphteria and was close to death. She received the Last Sacrament of the Catholic Church. However, she eventually recovered. Because her parents operated Hotel Victoria, with the irregular and extended hours this required, and the fact that they had four older children, it was decided that she could be better cared for in the household of her mother's sister Virginie. The two households were within easy walking distance. She stayed there till 1926.
