DOUGHERTY George C. Dougherty, 75, 416 W. Pine St., died in Memorial Hospital at 8:30 p.m. yesterday. Mr. Dougherty was a native of Washington County, but had lived in Portsmouth, Va., a number of years where he retired as general foreman of the Virginia Electric Power Co. He returned to Johnson City 10 years ago. He was the son of the late Malon and Elizabeth Range Dougherty, a member of the Tacoma Church of God, the Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1517 and the King's Mountan Post 24 American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the U.S.Army. He had celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary las July. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Tillie Carriger Dougherty; on son, Billy Joe, Portsmouth, Va.; one stepson, Floyd Minton, Johnson City; two daughters; Mrs Helen Miller, Salisbury, N. C., and Mrs Mary Jane Andrews, Kingsport; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Epperson, Johnson City, and Mrs. Myrtle Grindstaff, Elizabethton; nine grandchildren;four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
