 He was an engineer and left Tennessee to live in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington.
  1. Charlie Carriger - Born December 19, 1883- Married - Mae Belle ---- She had a son named Rex by a previous marriage. Charlie adopted two children - Helen and Philip. Charlie left Elizabethton, Tennessee when he was about 18 years of age with his Uncle Kale to Toulon, Ill.
  Charlie went to Toulon to work on Uncle Kale's Farm. He worked on the farm for approximately five years. Charlie was a civil engineer and helped build the first road from U.S to Alaska. He lived in Alaska for sometime. From Alaska, he sailed to Seattle, Washington where he died in his early eighties -approximately 1963. He continued working as a civil engineer in Seattle. He died a wealthy man prior to Mae Belle's death and he owned considerable real estate. Flora Belle is the only person of his family who visited him and he never saw any other member of his family after he left home at the age of 18. Flora Belle's daughter, Marie flew with her to visit him. Marie said he had a pleasing personality and was a dog lover. He gave Marie and Flora Belle $50.00 when they left as a token of appreciation.
