 The spelling of Lavicy Ward is taken from her tombstone. He name is also spelled Levicy in many family records. Christian and Lavicy Ward Carriger made their home on the old plantation of Godfrey Carriger that is named "Walnut Grove". The family left Walnut Grove on a flatboat and settled in Missouri. In 1848, they left Missouri for California. Christian died along the way. Lavicy settled in Sonoma County, California with her some of her children. She never saw aqain the children that she left behind in Tennessee. She died on December 26, 1864, in Sonoma County, Tennessee.
