Notes
a. Note:   Daniel Stover Carriger? (Ward?) was born December 12, 1810, before Christian Carriger and Lavicy Ward married. He was born in the Watauga Valley, Tennessee. Althought no records exist, it appears that Christian Carriger and Lavicy Ward were the natural parrents of both Henry Washington Carrigher (Ward?) and Daniel Stover Carriger (Ward?).
Daniel's two daughters, Elizabeth Jane Carriger and Martha Ann Carriger, may have been twins.
Daniel Stover Carriger and Margaret Patterson moved to Missouri in 1943. James, their forth child may have been born in Missouri. Both parents died in Missouri and the orphaned children were returned to relatives living in Tennessee.
Christian Carriger and Lavicy Ward were living near Daniel Stover in Missouri in 1846. Daniel Stover Carriger left Missouri in 1846 with the Christian Carriger wagon train for California. He left behind his wife, Margaret, and their four Children. Margaret died in 1848, and may have given birth to another son after Daniel left for California. Daniel Stover Carriger completed the journey to California. However he died in 1848, possibly from lingering war wounds. Their children were raised by Carriger relatives back in Carter County, Tennessee. But there is no recorded record of which relatives raised which children.
