Elsie Lillian Pratt (Franklin Pierce8, Phillip Isaac7, Thomas Henry6, William5, William4, John3, William2, Griffin1), fourth child of Franklin Pierce Pratt and Sarah Matilda Richardson, was born August 7, 1888, in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Her father died only four months after she was born. When she was seven, her mother married, second, Joseph Land. Elsie was raised in the Land household, but was not adopted and retained her Pratt surname. She married Alpheus Daniel Pratt, Jr., a cousin and son of Aplheus Daniel Pratt and Mary Jane Martin, November 15, 1913, in Virginia. Elsie and Alpheus had two children: Alpheus Myron Pratt m. Lena Blue McFayden, and a son that died an infant. Elsie died April 10, 1928, in Leaksville, Rockingham County, and is buried in the Greenview Cemetery, Reidsville, Rockingham County, North Carolina (Find A Grave Memorial # 48422441). *(see Alpheus Daniel Pratt, Jr.)
