It is likely that his middle name is Williams after his mother's maiden name. He married Louvisa Humphreys 17 Dec 1829 at Washington, Tennessee. They had 4 children: Hannah M. Nave Grindstaff, Anna Jane Nave Hardin, Pleasant George Nave, and James W. Nave. He was a miller and a farmer. Thomas is buried in the "Nave-Hess Cemetery." His gravestone, that was quite large, is no longer visible and his grave is unmarked. The name sometimes given to this cemetery (i.e., "Stover") is wrong. -------------------------------------------------------- 1850 US Census, Carter county, part of, Carter, Tennessee, United States Thomas Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Male«tab»50«tab»Tennessee Lavice Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Female«tab»44«tab»Tennessee Ann J Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Female«tab»15«tab»Tennessee Pleasant Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Male«tab»13«tab»Tennessee James W Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Male«tab»10«tab»Tennessee 1860 US Census, 1st Civil District, Carter, Tennessee, United States Thomas Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Male«tab»60«tab»Tennessee Lavisa Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Female«tab»52«tab»Tennessee James W Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Male«tab»20«tab»Tennessee George Nave«tab»«tab»«tab»«tab»Male«tab»23«tab»Tennessee ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thomas Nave was a miller. ------------------------------------- Will of Thomas Nave, p 615, Carter County Tennessee State of Tennessee September 6th A.D. 1861 County of Carter Know all men by these presents I Thomas Nave make my last will and testimony I bequeath to my wife Luvisa Nave my land house & furniture my horse, cattle, hogs, corn, oats and all the farming tools during her natural life or as long as she remains my widow.
