Mattox of Houston, Texas, F. Pierce Pratt of Bartlesville, Okla., and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 from the Grace First United Methodist Church in Cape Coral, with the Rev. Dr. Paul Temple officiating. E. "Dick Dare Jr. of Cape Coral was a man who enjoyed traveling the world Mr. Dare died Saturday of lung cancer. He was 80. He was born Aug 1, 1909, in Chicago. He was a gruate of Knox College in Galesburg, Ill. and of Harvard University School of Business. He worked for 43 years for United Airlines as deputy director of Cargo Sales for the airline, which consisted of selling cargo space on flights, said his daughter, Susan D. Sshuchter of Gaithersburg, Md. "He liked to travel a lot, and he went all over the world," she said, "He went to the northermost and southernmost points of most of the continents -- Alaska, Siberia, South Africa and Cape Horn." To complement his travels, Mr. Dare also enjoyed photography, his daughter said. "He certainly got along with everyone. He met people well and he was a gentleman, " Schuchter said. "He was known for his honesty -- that was very important to him." Mr. Dare moved to Cape Coral in 1978 to be near his daughter and to enjoy the sunshine, she said. Mr. Dare is survived by his wife Helen D. "Pete" Dare; two daughters, Virginia Mathews of Key Colony Beach, Fla., and Susan D. Schuchter of Gaithersburg, Md.; a brother, Robyn I. Dare of Navarre, Fla.; sister, Laurabelle Christenson of River Forest, Ill.; four stepsons: George C. Pratt of Marion, N.C., Richard K. Mattox of Charlotte of Charlotte, N.C., Thomas B. Mattox of Houston, Texas, and F. Pierce Pratt of Barttlesville, Okla.; and six grand children.
