Note: --- In 1850, the census enumerator mistakenly listed the Shaul children as Jennings. The Shaul children are: Isaac, Ransom, Dempsey, Nancy, and James. The Jennings children are: Joshua and Rebecca. Elizabeth [Betsey Wright] Jennings has taken in unrelated Sarah Heaton, 13, born in Indiana. (Source 6) JDS --- In 1870, William Woodruff, 11, born in Indiana, was living with Bets Jennings [Elizabeth Wright]. William Woodruff is the son of Sarah Heaton. (Source 7) JDS --- In 1880, Henry Miller and Albert Sumner, both 20, are providing farm labor for Betsey Jennings. Nancy Woodruff, a niece (?), 15, is a house keeper. (Source 9) JDS/MKF --- Riverside Cemetery. "Last Name: Jennings, First Name: James C. Betsey, Inscription: James C. East, Betsey Jennings, Section: F, Row: 2, Marker Number: 19..." (Source 10) Readable on the west side is James C. and the top portions of 5 letters which we believe to be S H A U L. Readable on the east side is Betsey and the top portions of J E N N I N G S. 4 Jul 2004 JDS/MKS --- Riverside Cemetery. "Name: Jennings, Betsy (Shaul), Date of Birth: 1813, Age: 81, Date of Interment: Nov 10, 1894, Section: F65..." (Source 11) --- "Jennings, Betsey...F...W...81...Nov 5 1894...Cicero...H-19...2" ... "Jennings, Betsy...F...W...81...Nov 10 1894...Cicero...H-2...2" (Source 13) --- "James C. Shaul & Betsey Wright Was Married April the 17. 1835" ... "Betsey Jennings Died November the 10th 1895" (Source 14) This entry on the title page of the New Testament was written by someone who was not sure of her death year. County records and death certificate show that she died in 1894, not 1895.
