a. Note:   ---Adams Township. Societies. "Sheridan Lodge, No. 995, Knights of Honor. . .The present officers are W. Remsen, D. . . .Dr. H. Moore, Medical Examiner;" (Source 2) [It is my belief that Washington Remsen never came to Hamilton County, Indiana. Thus, W. Remsen should be M. Remsen (Marion Remsen) who would be old enough to hold a position in the Sheridan Lodge in 1880. JDS]

...'Parp./..' (Perry) is the last child of Washington Remsen and Sarah is not Perry's mother. [MKS/JDS]
...Th./.. and Parp./.., the names entered for Thomas and Perry on Abigail Remsen's page, were living yet when the entries were made in the notebook. They appear to have been an afterthought written by the same hand with the same instrument. It is doubtful that the birth/death entries are in Marion's handwriting as they are written very steadily and meticulously and may have been copied from a Bible or other contemporaneous record extant in the 1860's. [JDS]
...Although the baby (b. 1875) was not named, nor attributed, Marion entered the fact in his notebook and never destroyed it even with ample opportunities to do so. By the date recorded one may properly presume the child's birth occurred in Hamilton County, IN, where Marion had married and was living with his wife, Florence, at the time. [JDS]
...Marion Remsen's personal pocket notebook, graciously loaned to us for a few days by Gloria Remsen to examine and scan into our computer, has more pages than these represented above by double underscore. We have presented these pages for their genealogical value. [MKF/JDS]
