Bragg aged 56 years, whose Post Office address is Sheridan County of Hamilton State of Ind. (a)nd Andrew J. Moore, aged 52, Hortonville, Hamilton Co. Indiana...who...(declare) that We were well and personally acquainted with the above named dead soldier in his lifetime for more than 30 yrs. prior to his death. We know that he - died on the 25 of Nov. 1897 - and both saw him die and were present at his funeral. We have a large family Bib(le) before us, which belongs to the family of the deceased sold - ier which is dated '1873' We have often seen it in the home of the claimant...We find recorded the birth of all his children by former wives but there being no children by any former wife under 16 yrs of age we only copy the names of his children by last wife, the above named claimant, who are all under 16 yrs of age. 'Jesse Jessup...Ralleigh Jessup...Jennie Jessup...John J. Jessup...' All of the above entries are in the handwriting of - above named dead soldier. We know as we are well and per-sonally acquainted with his handwriting. We find an addition-al entry made since his death which is in the handwriting of the claimants mother Sarah Bragg. 'Samuel B. Jessup...' This child was born about 6 hours after its father died. We know...that he died from lung trouble and that above named children are all living and in the care of their mother...Affiants...[signed] Alfred O. Bragg [signed] Andrw J. ... 16 Apr 1903 / (untitled affidavit) / "State of Indiana,Hamilton County,ss In the matter of pension for minor children of Samuel Jessup,deceased, by Charles Thistlethwaite Guardian...Comes Now Samuel W.Moore and Alford Bragg [sic],and being duly sworn each for him self says,that his Postoffice adress is Sheridan,Hamilton County,State of Indiana.that he is 62 years of age,and each says that he h [sic] has known Samuel Jessup for more than 25 years,and that the minors for whom pension is asked,namely Jesse,Raleigh,Jennie,John J ,and Samuel B. Jessup are...Children of the Soldier...and further say that all of said children are now living.
