Note: --- "After the death of his wife, William Sumner broke up his household and resided at various places until his death, in 1869, at the residence of his son Greenbury, in Marshall County, Ind., at the age of eighty-four years." ... Jackson Township. Elliott Sumner. "She [Nancy] was the mother of eight children..." (Source 2) --- The child in the 10-15 year range (Source 3 of Elliott Sumner), we believe, is Greenbury C. Sumner, a brother of Elliott Sumner, who came to live with his family after their father, William Sumner, broke up his home and family after his wife died. JDS/MKF --- The child in the under 5 age group living with William Sumner is Greenbury C. Sumner. (Source 6) --- There appears to be interference with the 26-45 age range column on the 1820 census picture available to us. Within the 26-45 age range of William Sumner's household, there should be a mark for a wife. From the information available to us at this time, we believe Nancy is one of 20+ individuals enumerated and totaled at the bottom of the page, but hidden by a visible interference. ... Due to age ranges, we believe that there is a young married couple living with William Sumner and his wife, Nancy. The male in question does not match the ages of any known children of William. If this male is married, this leaves a young woman in the 16-26 age range that we believe is Hannah, a sister to Nancy, both of whom are daughters of George Cornelius and do not show up in his household on the 1820 census. (Source 7) JDS/MKF --- "William Sumner, son of Thos and Hannah Sumner born January 11, 1784. Died June 17, 1868," (Source 9) William's birth year shows a mistake at the time of entry and is corrected with 7 written over an 8.
