 IN MEMORIAM.
  "Home without a mother."
After patiently enduring much suffering from systic [sic] trouble, and comforted with the utmost care and attention, and the most careful and skillful medical aid that could be obtained, the Angel of Death called in the early morn on Nov. 11, 1903, (NOTE: THE DAY OF DEATH CONFLICTS WITH INFORMATION FOUND IN ANOTHER SOURCE) for the sweet life of Mrs. Henry Wise (nee Miss Phoebe Baldwin), of Time, Greene county, Pa., to depart from her sojourn here and enter into that celestial city, prepared for the blessed, and receive the golden crown. The deceased was in her seventy-third year and has resided at her late home since her marriage, fifty-five years ago. She was very industrious, economical and a model homemaker; and also noted for her genial and generous hospitality. She was an estimable and faithful christian woman in every sense of the word, having been a faithful member of the Beulah Baptist church for half a century. She loved her Savior and walked close to His side. She was faithful to God, to her family, and kind to her many friends. She was also a faithful, loving mother and a devoted wife and her loved ones have the comfort of knowing that she was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ in whom she put her whole trust. In her dying hour she leaned on him and was not afraid to cross the dark valley of death and sang and prayed in her dying moments that the Lord would come and take her. She had been brought face to face with death at different times and always expressed a willingness, if it was God's will to sever the fond ties here on earth, to depart to that beautiful mansion beyond the skies. She most tenderly and sincerely requested the family, in her dying hour, to be prepared to meet her on that bright shore. She possessed the true christian character which shone forth as a bright light to comfort her dear one, while she lay suffering upon a bed of sickness. She endured her suffering uncomplainingly and was ever watching and waiting for the coming of her Lord. She with that great courage and fortitude which characterizes the true christian selected the text from which her funeral sermon was to be preached, John the fourteenth chapter and second verse; "In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you." She also selected the hymns to be sung. Among them were: "What a friend we have in Jesus," "Nearer my God to Thee" and "God be with you till we meet again." She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, Henry Wise, and two sons: J. H. and William Wise, also one sister, Mrs. Harvey Burns, and one brother, James Baldwin, all of Time, Greene county, Pa. The funeral services were held at her late home on Thursday, November 19, 1903, at two o'clock p. m. The sad rites were conducted by Rev. J. F. Franks, of the First Baptist church of Claysville, Pa. He made a very able, impressive and touching address on the true christian character of the deceased. She was followed to her last resting place in the Beulah cemetery by a large number of relatives and friends.
