The cause of death was sudden cardiac death ASHD CHF. He was born September 17, 1924 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania and was divorced. His education was listed as 12 year.  John "Ed" Porter Sr.
  John Edward Porter Sr., 71, of Porter Addition, Route 1, Farmington, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 1995) at his home.
  He was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Charles and Anna Black Porter.
  Porter was a member of the Gilmer County Masonic Lodge, No. 118, for 50 years. He was a collector of antiques and was retired from Equitable Gas Co., where he served 42 years.
  He is survived by three sons, John E. Porter Jr. and William C. Porter Sr., both of Mannington, and Robert D. Porter of Phoenix, Ariz.; a friend, Edna Shaver; five grandchildren, John Porter III, Wiliam Porter Jr., Anna Elizabeth Porter, Robert D. Porter and Christopher Porter.
  In addition to his parents, Porter was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Donald and Jack Porter.
  Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, Mannington, today from 1-4 p. m. and 6-9 p. m. Services will be Monday at 10 a. m. in the funeral home with the Rev. David Moutz officiating. Burial will be at Stalnaker Cemetery in Glenville at 1 p. m. with the Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. The Gilmer County Masonic Lodge, No. 118, will conduct a memorial service at graveside.
