 JESSE PORTER
  Jesse Porter died at his home in Jefferson township, Saturday, February 9 (NOTE: SATURDAY WAS FEBRUARY 8, WHICH IS THE DAY OF DEATH FROM OTHER SOURCES), aged 58 years. His death was due to heart failure. Although Mr. Porter had been in poor health for several years, his death came as a great shock to his family and friends. Mr. Porter served as steward of the Children's home for sixteen years and was most highly respected. He is survived by his wife and one son, William Porter, at home. The funeral was held on Tuesday at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. S. Carr, pastor of the Muddy Creek Presbyterian church. Interment in Oakmont Cemetery.

 Will of J. S.. Porter Registered Feb. 20, 1908 (Greene County Will Book 11, page 16-No. 6518)
  I, Jesse S. Porter of Morgan Township, Greene County Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.
 Item:- I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently, after my decease.
 Item:- I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Selina Porter that certain tract of land situate in Morgan Township, Greene County, Pa., bounded on the North by Clark Vankirk; on the West by C. C. Harry; on the East by Edward Vankirk, and on the South by George E. Long, containing seventy acres, for and during the term of her natural life or so long as she remains my widow, and at my wife Selina Porter's death or remarriage, said farm is to become the property of my son William H. Porter.
 Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my son William H. Porter his heirs and assigns forever, absolutely in fee simple all that certain tract of land situate in Morgan Township, Greene County Pa., bounded on the East by George E. Long; on the South by William Hoge; on the West by Simeon Water's Heirs and on the North by C. C. Harry, containing thirty nine acres.
 Item:- I give, devise and bequeath unto my son William H. Porter, his heirs and assigns absolutely in fee simple my two certain lots of ground situate and fronting on Pine Street 120 feet and extending back 240 feet, in the Borough of Jefferson, Greene County, Pa.
 Item:- I direct and empower my executors hereinafter named, if they think for the best interest of Selina Porter and William H. Porter, to make sale of the seventy acre farm devised and bequeathed to my wife Selina Porter for and during her natural life or widowhood and put funds arising from said said sale in trust for my wife Selina Porter, she to receive the interest arising therefrom for and during her natural life or so long as she remains my widow.
 Item: I give devise and bequeath unto my wife Selina Porter my household goods.
 Item: I give, devise and bequeath unto my wife Selina Porter and my son William H. Porter all my personal property to be divided equally between them, without my executors being required to make appraisement.
 Item: I direct my exceutors hereinafter named to erect a monument to my grave, to cost at least five hundred dollars.
 I do hereby make, constitute and appoint my wife Selina Porter and my son William H. Porter to be executors of this my last will and testament.

Porter late of Morgan Tp. in the county of Greene, deceased, who, being duly sworn according to law, deposes and says that he was personally present and saw and heard the said testator sign, seal, publish and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last Will and Testament, and that he signed his name as witness to the said instrument of writing in the presence of the said testator and at his request, and in the presence of J. M. Ketchem, the other subscribing witness thereto, and at the time of signing the same he, the said testator was of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, to the best of his knowledge and belief, and that as he shall answer to God at the last Great Day.
