My mother remembers her grandmother living with them on Eagle Ave. in the Bronx, "but she wasn't there that long". Mom was about 10 years old at that time.
My mother had piano lessons with her grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Smart)Bonner, when they lived on West 81st. St. in Manhattan. She remembers her grandmother's piano was shipped from California and had to be hoisted up the outside of the West 81st. St. building in order to get it into her apartment. My mother remembers that her grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Smart) Bonner, had to have one leg amputated when she lived in New York because of complications from diabetes.

Ashes in Green Street-Carrollton Cemetery, New Orleans, Orleans, LA [they only cremated her at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, Queens, NY and then sent her ashes to New Orleans]
  Letter from Irma Smart-
Lillian, who at the age of 21 was killed in an automobile accident in California. Her ashes are buried here in New Orleans where your Grandmother's are in our family plot in the Green St. cemetery
 -----------------------------------------------
From Elizabeth Margaret (Bonner) Dinger, granddaughter of Mary Elizabeth (Smart) Bonner::
 (2019, at 97!)
My grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Smart)Bonner, most definitely died in New York City, I was there. I remember my grandmother living with us on Eagle Ave. in the Bronx, "but she wasn't there that long" (she died in 1933). I took piano lessons with her when we lived on West 81st. St. in Manhattan. I remember my grandmother's piano was shipped from California and had to be hoisted up the outside of the West 81st. St. building in order to get it into her apartment. I remember that my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Smart)Bonner, had to have one leg amputated when she lived in New York because of complications from diabetes. Her ashes are in Green Street-Carrollton Cemetery, New Orleans, Orleans, LA, because they cremated her at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, Queens, NY, then my father sent her ashes to New Orleans to be buried with the rest of her family.
Mary Elizabeth (Smart) Bonner lived in California for a while when my father and his two step-brothers were working there. Mary Elizabeth came to New York shortly after my father moved there, after her daughter, Lillian, was killed in an automobile accident in Elk Grove crossing of the Southern Pacific when her automobile was struck by a train.
According to a letter from Irma Smart (my father's cousin) "...Lillian, who at the age of 21 was killed in an automobile accident in California. Her ashes are buried here in New Orleans where your Grandmother's are in our family plot in the Green St. cemetery".
My father kept a diary while he was living in California:
 Wed. Oct. 14 1914
Mother arrived at 3:00 7:25 PM should be 13th.
 Fri. Jan 1, 1915

 AND-from 11/18/2006:
"I was born (like everybody else). My mother had to go to the Lying-in-Hospital in downtown Manhattan by the "El". A new mother was allowed to stay in the hospital for about a month with her baby until she was allowed to go home. At that time my mother, father (Bill) my sister, Lillian and I lived with my grandmother , Mollie at 200 W. 81st Street in Manhattan, N.Y.C, where she kept a "rooming house". The apartment had about five small bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom and the "Dark Room". Originally, it was probably intended as either a maid's room, or for storage. It was entirely an inside room; no windows; only a ventilation glass over the door.
One time I found a pair of grandma's scissors (she was, at one time, a dressmaker), and proceeded to cut my hair. When the deed was discovered, I was rushed downstairs to the nearest barbershop where he shaved my head. From then on I was called "Shavey-Head" until, of course it grew back in. I was accused of eating a soap eraser, the candles on my birthday cake, and drinking a baby bottle of milk where a hot pepper had accidentally been left. My mother was furious. We moved shortly after that."
