Albert "Connoway" is listed in the 1880/81 City Directory of Ne w B e r n as residing on Spring St, near New South Front. Birth shown (ca. 1828) is based on Cemetery records. However, Cra v e n 1 870 census lists him as age 50 but burial records of Cedar Gro v e C emet ary (microfilm), New Bern, NC, indicates age 63 at time o f de at h in 18 92, indicating birth as ca. 1828/29. Various records indicate spellings of thei r na m e a s Conoway, Conaway. Conway has been accepted based on th e deat h r ecor d of his daughter, Julia, as well as the marriage reco rd of t he o the r daughter, Mary, who married Helen Huff in 1889. T o furthe r compl icat e matters, Albert's name is shown as Conoway o n the Deat h Certifi cat e of his daughter Mary. Further, it is not certain whether his given name was Albert Am o s o r A mos Albert.
