Note: Richard Felton was born in Chowan County, NC in 1797 to Kader (Ca d e r ) Felton and Priscilla Rountree. Richard was married about 15 M ar c h 1 819 to Lydia Sanders (Saunders) Barrow, the only child of Abr ah a m Sand ers (Saunders) and wife, Rhoda.
Richard spent most of his life in Perquimans, becoming one of the c o u n ty's most prominent citizens and leading landowners. He was a pi ll a r a nd principal benefactor of Hertford Baptist Church. His secon d w if e (M ary ..........) and only son were originally buried behin d th e ch urch . He died 3 March 1865.
