 The John Colon Hurst Family 1869 -
 James Albert served in the Confederate army in the Civil war.
 He was the son of James (born 1815 in Sumter, S.C.) and Temperance (buried in Bethlehem Cemetery).
 The Isaac and Priscilla Hurst Family --
 Priscilla's son James (1815-1885) married Temperance (tempe) Collins, daughter of Wilson and Barbara (Beasley) Collins, settled and farmed around Pratts Station. He served in the Alabama Militia, 12 May-14 June, 1836, during the Creek Indian uprising. He was enrolled by Lt. Col. O.I. Williams as a private in Capt. Robert T. White's Mounted Co., 42 nd Regiment, 11th Brigade. Alao with Capt. Thomas C. Eford's Co., mustered by Col. J. Curry. He is buried in Florala, AL.

 James (1815-1885) and Temperance Collins Hurst (1818-1871). James Hurst came to Alabama from Sumter County, SC around1830. In 1855 a bounty land warrant was issued to him in the Robertson Mill area.

 About 1850, James (1815) left his family in Barbour Co. and in 1874, married Julia Ann Lasiter in Walton Co., FL. They had four sons and three daughters.

  For reasons unknown, James Hurst abandoned his wife and children in Alabama sometime in the mid 1850s. He then moved to Florida and eventually was re-married Julia Lassiter on Mar 4, 1874 . He was in his old age when he fathered children with Julia. He is buried at Greenwood Cemetery, which is near Florala, Alabama. On a pension application his personal description was given as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, blue eyes, sandy hair and having a fair complexion. His occupation was listed as being a farmer.
