OBITUARY - Nelda Grace Johnson
Nelda Grace Johnson, age 80, of Beaver, WV, passed away at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital on Friday, August 19, 2011, at 11:33 p.m. following a long illness.
Born on March 28, 1931, at Grandview, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jess Redden and Effie Vance Redden.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. She had made her home in Beaver for most of her adult life. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed gardening in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Johnson, by two daughters, Joan Starr and Wanda Dates, by a grandson, Johnny Morrison, by a great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Grace Bennett, by a brother, Vincent Redden, and by a sister, Lillian Morton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Doris Johnson of Beaver, WV, and Nancy Johnson and her husband Matthew Harrah of Daniels, WV.
A half sister, Elizabeth Kidwell of Charleston, WV, Three grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Bennett, both of Dinwiddie, Va., and Kimberly Starr of White Pine, TN, four great-grandchildren Brittany and Sarah Starr, Jaimie and Cody Bennett, a great-great-granddaughter, Alyssa Starr.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Minister Patricia Scott officiating. Graveside rites and burial will follow at the Kidwell Cemetery at Table Rock, WV, with Mr. Lloyd Phillips officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
