Note: Mary Aileen Gale St. Goddard -nee Orvis - We grieve the loss of our mother, Mary Aileen Gale St. Goddard who passed away on Friday, September 28, 2001 at the age of 45 years. Predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Helen Orvis, sisters Dorthy Lamirande and Betty Thorvaldson and brothers, Phillip Orvis and Danny Irvine; she leaves to treasure her memory her husband Ernie St. Goddard of St. Ambroise, very special friend Bob Irving of Portage la Prairie, daughters, Stacy (Thomas) Flamand of Portage la Prairie and Joanne (Victor) Sharp of Portage la Prairie, son, Kevin (Rebecca) St. Goddard of Winnipeg and grandchildren Tiffany, Darcy, Ashley, Kristina, Amber and Tishara. She also leaves behind her sisters, Marlene (Harry) Birston of Portage la Prairie and Beatrice (Bob) Pettit of Winnipeg and brothers, Larry Orvis and Bert Orvis both of Winnipeg. Mary was born in Beausejour, MB and resided in Grand Marais where she received her education. She moved to St. Ambroise where she met and later married Ernie St. Goddard and raised their three children. She was employed at various jobs but working at Jimmy Robinson/Dick Wallin Hunting Lodge brought her much enjoyment. Later Mary moved to Portage with her two younger children to be close to her older daughter and her grandchildren and family. She was employed at Laundry Queen for numerous years and found much pleasure in greeting the regulars and meeting new people. Mary had a great sense of humor and always had something to talk about or was very interested in what you had to say. She was stubborn but seemed to know when to give in. She would go out of her way to help whenever she could. In her spare time Mary enjoyed bingo, playing slots, going for country drives and taking care of her cat and dog. She was very devoted to spending time with her family and friends. Family and friends are invited tonight to McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 2, 2001 for a time of visitation. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at 1:30 pm at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel with The Rev. Norman Collier officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Mary's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. A tree will be planted and cared for in memory of Mary by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel who are entrusted with the arrangements. 857-4021. www.portagelaprairiedailygraphic.com Posted on 2001-09-28
