  ADA THOMAS (nee ORVIS) Peacefully, after a lengthy illness with Alzheimers, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Ada Thomas passed away on, November 12, 2000 at the aged 85 years. She is survived by her children, Len, Eileen, Gerry, Judy, Corinne, her step-children, Joyce, Denny, Marilyn, and one sister Cecila (Sis) and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ada was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Stack, her second husband Patrick (Reg) Thomas, sons, Johnny, Glenn, Billy and daughter Lorena. Before her illness, Ada had a great love of life. She loved music, especially old time dancing, gardening, picking berries, fishing, playing cards and bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Along with great sense of humour and many friends, she loved to travel, holidaying in many exotic spots in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, US and downtown Balsam Bay. Mother will be happy now as she joins her family in the big blueberry patch in the sky. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. Interment to follow in the Balsam Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
