  Otis Benjamin Whitesell Dies at 101
  ELON - Otis Benjamin Whitesell, 101, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at Alamance Health Care.
  He was born in Guilford County to the late Eddie Hildrey Rankin Whitesell and Callie Alventine Elizabeth Michael Whitesell and was married to the late Grace Helene Smith Whitesell.
  He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where he, along with his wife, helped organize the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He was formerly employed by Glen Raven Mills and Falcon Industries. During World War II he was employed by the U.S. Shipyard in Wilmington, Del.
  He is survived by his daughters, Hilda Deneece Hodge and husband Bill of Burlington, Paula Mogle of Graham and Iris Trent and husband Joe of Elon; grandchildren, David Hodge and wife Junko of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Jeffrey Hodge and wife Cindy of Staunton, Va., Kim Sellars and husband Baxter of Burlington, Henry Hilliard III and wife Shaunda of Burlington, Anjie Greeson of Mebane, Kelly Carson of Elon, Ashley McHale and husband Brent of Livermore, Calif.; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Barber of Gibsonville and Evelyn Smith of Burlington.
  He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and sisters, Zora Smith, Ethel Tate, Christine
  Bailey and Jewel Baldwin; and brothers, Conrad, Willie, Dwight, Howard, Brice and James Whitesell; and a son-in-law, Everett Mogle.
  The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hyung S. Kim, the Rev. Gary Loftis, the Rev. Randy Hobbs and the Rev. Sandra Ireson, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the residence.
