  Mrs. Nova Byrd Whitesell Holder
  BURLINGTON - Mrs. Nova Byrd Whitesell Holder, 89, of Qualtity Care Home of Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health.
 A native of Vass, she was the wife for 15 years to the late Dwight Whitesell and the wife for 24 years to the late Durant Carlyle Holder. She was the daughter of the late John Edgar Byrd and Cora Stephens Byrd. She was a former registered nurse, bookkeeper and homemaker and was a member of Moncure Baptist Church.
 Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carol Whitesell Smith and husband, Jim of Burlington and Mrs. Valera Whitesell Stewart and husband, Edward; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Beth Holder Holland and husband, Mike of Apex; grandchildren, Mrs. Deborah Smith Ellis and husband, Ken, Laura Smith Litten, Mrs. Janet Stewart Nichols and husband, Tim, and Jennifer Ann Stewart; great-grandchildren, Adam and Brian Bussey and Christina and Jason Litten; two sisters, Mrs. Dee Parker Bass of Moncure and Mrs. Doris Byrd O'Neil of Claymont, Del.; and several in-laws of the Whitesell and Holder families.
 She was preceded in death by two sisters; and five brothers.
 The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Pride Carson, pastor of Stony Creek Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
 The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory form 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Carol Whitesell Smith, 2105 Stoney Creek Church Road, Burlington. Memorials may be made to Moncure Baptist Church, P.O. Box 136, Moncure, N.C. 27559.
