b. Note:   N17379 BURLINGTON -- Mrs. Vera Shepherd Vickrey, 87, was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Guilford Healthcare Center, surrounded by her three children.
  She was born in Alamance County to the late Thomas Blanche Shepherd and Carrie Hayes Shepherd and was married to the late James Franklin "Frank" Vickrey Sr. Vera retired after 22 years with MCR and was a member of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church.
  Survivors include her daughter, Melody V. Reynolds and husband Tom of Greensboro; sons, the Rev. James Franklin "Jim" Vickrey Jr. and wife Denise of Salisbury and Dr. Benny Vickrey and wife Brenda of Lexington; grandchildren, Chris Vickrey, Sarah Faries, Jennifer (Gray) Currin, Trevor Underwood, Lee (Lydia) Vickrey, Amanda (Roy) Warren, Gina (Chris) Prince, Evan (Janele) Reynolds and Kristin Reynolds; and ten great-grandchildren.
  Vera was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Mike Vickrey; sisters, Inez Moss, Mozelle Shepherd and Louise Renigar; brothers, Worth Shepherd, Paul Shepherd and Verdy Shepherd.
  The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by her two sons.
  Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.
