  J. Ray Phillips
  BURLINGTON - Mr. J. Ray Phillips of Burlington, died at Alamance Healthcare Center on Monday, December 4, 2006 at 8:50 p.m.
 A native of Chatham County, he was the husband of Faye Whitesell Phillips , who survives, and the son of the Rev. Grover Cleveland Phillips and Mary Missouri Myrick Phillips , both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was a retired welder and pipefitter. He was a member of the United Association of Journeymen of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #421 based in Charleston, S.C. He was a member of Faith Bible Chapel.
 In addition to the wife of the home, survivors include three sisters, Miss Sarah Phillips and Mrs. Thelma Branson, both of Bennett, and Mrs. Alma Garner of Ramseur; one brother, Mr. Howard Phillips of Asheboro; one granddaughter, Diana Phillips of Mebane; and three great-grandchildren.
 The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Mark Robertson. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
 The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m.
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
