 Mr. Luke V. Clapp
 WHITSETT - Mr. Luke Vernon Clapp, 86, of 7011 Burlington Road, died at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after an illness of five months, six weeks critical.
 A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lahoma Overman Clapp, who survives, and the son of Mr. Floyd Clapp and Mrs. Myrtle Smith Clapp, both deceased.
 He was retired from Gilbarco Co. in Greensboro. He was a charter member of the Gibsonville Lions Club and a member of the Whitsett Ruritan Club. He was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church.
 Survivors other than his wife of the home include a son, Mr. Larry Neal Clapp of Elon College; six sisters, Mrs. Ann Allen of Mebane, Mrs. Mable Wagoner and Mrs. Lucy Wagoner, both of Elon College, Ms. Clara Chriscoe and Mrs. Sue Clubb, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Agnes Fogleman of Alamance; three brothers, Mr. Kestle Clapp of Gibsonville and Mr. Buddy Dexter Clapp and Mr. Floyd "Junior" Clapp, both of Whitsett; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Ferry Clapp and Mr. Raymond Clapp.
 The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by Dr. John Franklin Howard Sr., pastor, and the Rev. Donald Overman, pastor of Victory Worship Center. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the
 service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
 The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home.
 Memorials may be made to Gibsonville United Methodist Church, 501 Church St., P.O. Box 82, Gibsonville, N.C. 27249.
