CHAPTER VII SEVENTH GENERATION CHARLES MILFORD DAVIS7 BULL (Archibald6, Isaac5, Isaac4, John3, Isaac2, Edward1) was born 29 May 1815 (Spelman Gen.) in Troy, Rennsalaer Co., NY(Detroit Public Library, Burton Historical Coll.). He was baptized at St. Paul's Church in Troy on 25 Sep 1816. He migrated to Detroit, Michigan between 1830-1836. He married Eliza A.S.Swathel there on 21 Nov 1836 at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul (Episcopal)(church rec. & Spelman). They lived there for a year and Charles operated a dry-cleaning store on Jefferson Ave.(1837 city dir.). Later that year, they moved to Manchester, Mich. where he was active in civic affairs including a stint as a deputy sheriff in 1841. In 1842 C.M.D. declared bankruptcy and two years later he sold his dry goods store. Sometime after that, he migrated to Milwaukee, Wisc. He died there on 22 Jun 1847 (Lansingburgh (NY) Gazette, 9 Jul 1847). Children, born at Manchester: i. George Edward8, b. 11 Sep 1837/1838; m. to Catherine Riley ca. 1861/2 (see chart E); d. 1 Jan 1909 at Grand Rapids, Mich. and is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Ann Arbor, Mich.. ii. Ellen E.L., b.13 Mar 1840; m.(1) at Ann Arbor, 27 May 1862 , Frederick Lord, (2) at Chicago, 7 Dec 1876 , Dewitt Gooding; d.15 Feb 1886 at Chicago, IL and is buried at Oakwoods Cemetery, Chgo.
