Note: Anna Tucker had always been told her mother's name was Mattie Mae. In the divorce papers filed by William S. Tolbert in 1898 (final decree dated 1904), she was called Mattie "Haner". Could they have meant Hannah? She was called Mattie H. Tolbert in the 1900 Census for Carroll County, VA.
June 16, 2015: Finally tracked down Mattie's death record. Her middle name is listed as "Haven".

The Roanoke Times newspaper on Sunday, Sept. 26, 1965 had the following obit:
PAINT BANK - Mrs. Mattie Tolbert Anderson , 68, died Saturday in a nursing home in Clifton Forge. Surviving are a son William H. Anderson and a daughter Elsie Faye Anderson both of Paint Bank. Funeral will be Sunday at 2p.m. at Paint Bank Methodist Church with burial at the Bryant family cemetery. The body is at Boitnott Funeral Home.
