a. Note:   n Australia. The trek which was led by John McCrossin, travelling through Dalby, Gayndah, Gin Gin, Gladstone, Rockhampton and on, up to what is now known as Mackay, the marking out of their land claims and the return journey, arriving back home (Bendemeer) on August 7th 1860. The trek was was accompanied by Andrew Murray, John McKay, Donald Cameron, Hamilton Robison, John Muldoon, John Barbra and Duke. He suffered badly from dengue fever as did several others of the expeditions members. Andrew Murray recorded a journal of the expedition, the original copy of which is held by the University of New England, Armidale. An online copy is at
