Notes
a. Note:   eth Newell. His theory was that the Newells came out on the 'Brilliant' in November 1833, which carried suppies and livestock for the Spencer family. www.theviewfrommountclarence.com/?p=36893
There are a couple of older theories about James Newell, the first is that he and his family came out from Engalnd to settle Western Australia on the "James Patterson" which arrived in Albany on the 19th June 1834. Ciaran Lynch investigated this and decided on the evidence that it was James' son, James Newell. The second theory which has been disproved but was recorded in 'The Dictionary of Western Australia', that he was a convict who was sentenced to transportation to Tasmania (that James Newell died in 1828).
The family made a living laboring, lime burning & sealing and made several voyages in very small craft to SA.
Note:   The Newell family first arrived in Albany sometime between 1832 and 1834. Ciaran Lynch has proposed that the wife of Government Resident, Sir Richard Spencer may have been related to them, as his wife, Ann Warden Liddon's grandmother was an Elizab
