 George was tried in Middlesex Goal Delivery on September 10, 1829 and received seven years for shop lifting. He stole a jacket.

 Held at Justice hall, in the Old Bailey, on Thursday, the 10th day of September, 1829.
 George Weston and Henry Paul were indicted for stealing on the 19th of August, one jacket,
 value 5 shillings and one pair of trousers, value 7 shillings, the goods of William Wellington.
 Weston pleaded guilty. Aged 16. transported for seven years.
 William Wellington - I am a clothes salesman and live at number 7, Lower Marsh, near the gate at
 Lambeth. This jacket and trousers were safe at my door at six o'clock on the 19th August they were
 taken before half past eight. I saw them at Marlborough Street next day. I know nothing of the
 prisoners.
 Thomas Clements - On the 19th of August I was going down Drury Lane with Goddard, I saw the
 prisoners and three other boys come up the lane and go down Dukes Court, we followed them. Paul
 had this bundle and Weston took it off him in the Court. I took Paul and Goddard took Weston, the
 other two boys ran away. As I was going with Paul to the watch-house I asked him where he got
 the things, he said they were coming up the cut, that Weston took them from the nail and gave them to him to carry, and he carried them till he was taken.
 It lists his native place as Holborn, age 17, errand boy, single, no children, Religion P, could not read or write.
 He left London on the 'Mary' on December 18, 1829 and arrived in Van Diemans Land (Tasmania) on April 9, 1830.

 Ship character remarks - noisy and troublesome.
 His work record states that on:-
 February 12, 1831 he received 12 lashes for neglect of duty.
 March 21, 1836 George Weston and Jane Quinn petition for marriage
 April 11, 1836 he was fined 5 shillings for being drunk and fighting in the street.
 May 16, 1836 improperly keeping a woman in his hut, believed to be Jane Quinn. He was ordered to leave the district.
 May 23, 1836 being in a disorderly house.
 REMARKS - S.W. G.W. Heart and darts inside right arm. Ring, nickel middle finger, right hand. Tattoo on left arm
 In June 1844 he was accused of smuggling. He always protested his innocence, stating that he only rowed the boat which found the kegs, and did not know they had belonged to Mr McKenzie. [Erickson Rica Dictionary of Western Australia Vol. 1 p. 248.]
 In March 1847 George and Caroline sailed to South Australia on SS 'Empress' With their their two children. In 1852 they migrated from Adelaide to the goldfields of the Bendigo district.
