a. Note:   nces and out buildings. It appears that at the end of his 5-year lease at Dugandan, he moved to Logan village until about 1889, when he returned to Dugandan to work as a sawyer for the mill. After having a thumb severed in a sawmill accident, Carl decided to make his way north with his family, working on farms as he traveled. In 1896 Carl had a goldfields homestead lease in Spring Vale, Happy Valley http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/52510436 In 1900 he was working in the mines at Mount Morgan.
 In 1908 Carl, Caroline and family moved to Rockhampton. He purchased a dairy farm at Etna Creek, Oakland, just north of Rockhampton. Carl built a cottage for himself on the farm, and took on a cream run. He invested in a truck, and would do the rounds of the farms, picking up the cream cans and delivering them to Rockhampton.
