Note: e family came from Radnor so now I have found they only married there, I wonder why, and he was not aware of that." Janice Kirkman wrote back " when I did that research on all the Elizabeth`s christened around 1801 in All Saints, there was an Elizabeth PUGH (see attached) and her father was Thomas PUGH which is the signature of one of the witnesses. Also she had a brother Thomas (from the Mormon disk I had) but he would have been under 21 years old at the marriage so not allowed to be a witness.Looks like the curator is William Lloyd and a bit hard to read the other witness name." ***Note re marriage witness - There was a Bengo family at Eardisley - Henry & Elizabeth had a Margaret 12 March 1790** There was a Mary Bengough 1851 Eardisley census at " Hawthorn Cottage' not far from Richard & Margarett Llewellyn. On IGi Batch C145941: born to parents Thomas & Elizabeth PUGH at All Saints, Hereford are Elizabeth 10 Aug 1800, Martha 04 Aug 1802, Eleanor 02 Oct 1804, William Hardwick 16 Oct 1808. As the 1841, 1851 & 1871 census all record that Elizabeth was born in the county of Hereford with the 1851 stating All Saints , Hereford , so this is no doubt her family. More research is needed as to why and when she arrived in Glasbury, Wales in 1823 but with the Curate recording that Elizabeth was " of this parish in the county of Radnor " one would suspect she had been there for some time. Elizabeth was recorded as a 70 year old widow and householder born All saints, Hereford in the 1871 Census. She had 3 servants residing with her, a David ? Radcliffe 22 year old general servant born at Brecon, a 14 year old Elizabeth Wakefield born at Eardisley and a 70 year old Charwoman Ruth ? Ba?puhan? born at Eardisland, Hereford. The real surprise was to find her in the civil parish of Yazor, south of Dilwyn. This is the first time her family has been found outside of Eardisley or Dilwyn. She had obviously moved to Yazor from Dilwyn after the death of her husband in May 1869. In the 1871 census Elizabeth was named as a "Householder" so she had made a decision at some time to buy land in this parish. Elizabeth died at Eardisley, so most likley she had moved back to live or was being taken care of during an illness at her son Phillip's house in Eardisley. Elizabeth's death certificate recorded her as a 75 yo widow of Phillip Llewellyn and a retired shopkeeper. Her son Phillip , "present at this death", resident of Eardisley, was the informant on the certificate. The cause of death was described as "old age - Bronchitis - 5 days certified by O.W. Hoffman m.r.c.s " Details found relating to the doctor who seems to have been known to the family are : Octavius William Hoffman M.R.C.S. (fl. 1854-1899), Poor Law Medical Officer in Suffolk then in Herefordshire: testimonials and other papers. 1854-1884. (MS.7149) can be found on this site : here http://library.wellcome.ac.uk/doc_WTL039920.html Christine Fairhurst could not locate a will in the Will index for an elizabeth Llewellyn 1875 to 1878.
Note: Phillip and Elizabeth both signed their own names in the Presence of Thomas Pugh and William Price, underneath a Margaret Bengo her made her mark at their marraige in Glasbury May 23rd 1823 Radnor. Jan Llewellyn wrote " My Dad always said th
