Notes
a. Note:   OBITUARY: Transcript of Melissa Boothe Moore as it appeared in the January 28, 1912 edition of the Gonzales Weekly Inquirer. This paper is on microfilm at the Gonzales County Public Library in Gonzales, Texas.
"Mrs. M.A.C. Moore died on Sunday afternoon, January 14, at her home in Dreyer. Mrs. M.A.C. Moore's age was 74 years. Mrs. Moore had been in bad health for some time and her death was due to paralysis. She was the widow of Mr. A.J. Moore, familiarily known as Mr. Andy Moore, one of Gonzales' oldest citizens who at one time lived in this city out on the old Tinsley homestead on East Avenue, just beyond the County Clerk Patterson's residence. The house, which was torn down some years ago, was one of Gonzales' oldest land marks, Gen. Sam Houston frequently stopping there on his visits to Gonzales.
Mrs. Moore was a daughter of a prosperous planter of the early days and was raised near Hochheim (Texas). Besides two brothers, Mr. John Boothe of Yoakum and Mr. Russell Boothe of Austin, she leaves nine grandchildren, the children of her son Mr. R.I. Moore, deceased. Mrs. Moore left a considerable estate valued at about $35,000, (with) her daughter-in-law, by the terms of the will being made sole executrix without bond, to have charge of the property until the youngest grandchild becomes of age.
In the passing of Mrs. Moore, Gonzales County loses another one of her old time residents."
BURIAL: Melissa Ann Catherine Boothe Moore is buried in the Hochheim Cemetery along with her son Robert and several grandchildren.
Stella Lawson Boothe, in her Boothe Family Book, published in 1955, had the following to say about Melissa Boothe Moore:
"I remember Aunt Melissa well. She came to Austin once to visit her brother R.C. Boothe. She was a tall, slender, dark-complexioned woman with brown eyes and black hair just turning gray. She was a friendly woman. Her grandson, W.S. Moore, came with her and they stayed for several days."

  Comments by Rex Moore, Jr.:
It is unusual that Melissia referred to herself as "Mrs. M.A.C. Moore" in her will rather than using her given name. It also seem unusual that she mentioned she was the "daughter of W.S. Boothe" and made no mention of her deceased husband, Andrew J. Moore.
It is believed that all of the land mentioned in the Inventory of her Estate was land which Melissia had inherited from her father, W.S. Boothe.
The 243 acres of land in Gonzales Co. mentioned in the Inventory was the land at Dreyer where some of her grandchildren lived. Of this 243 acres, 120 acres was sold to Ed Langhoff. The remaining 123 acres was divided between Robert I. Moore (Jr.), W.S. Moore, Brooksie Moore Davis, Bessie Moore Jones, and Katherine Moore Rhodes sometime after the youngest grandchild (Lucy Moore Johnson) turned 16. All of this land was sold by the family in the mid-1940's.
The 156 1/2 acres of land in DeWitt Co. mentioned in the Inventory was on what is now known as Immenhauser Road - which is south of US 183 between Concrete and Hochheim. This 156 1/2 acres was divided between Melissia's other grandchildren Ruth Moore Evans, Rep Moore, Alice "Boots" Moore, and Lucy Moore Johnson. This land remained in the family until the 1960's when all but about 30 acres was sold to "Junior" Parks. Rep Moore retained his 30 acres or so until the death of himself and his wife and then it passed to their only son, Rep Franklin Moore. Rep Franklin sold the last of the "Boothe" land owned by the Moores in about 2004.
